would thier be any advantages using this input versus the line level input when tracking sounds from a MPC sampler/sequencer????? would using this input be similar to using a DI box?? Thanks

RE: DI Input

That's exactly what it is designed for. Use the line input when patching a device made to deliver a +4 (line level) signal so check the manual on your Akai unit. Generally, devices with a balanced quarter inch output(TRS) are +4 while those with an unbalanced quarter inch out(most synths and keyboards) are -10(or instrument level). Of course there may be exceptions(why I suggest checking the manual).

RE: DI Input

I have found that using the DI or should we say I I (inst. input) will get you a little louder signal(rms) vs just going all balanced from your MPC. I go unbalanced into the DI( I I ). I also have the other preamps with inst inputs on them. works great
