Torrent download question

Believe it or not, I have never used a torrent download before. I installed uTorrent but one of it's requirements is to open my firewall to allow downloads through.(presumably all torrent clients are the same) How dangerous is this? I am not knowledgeable in this area, so I don't want to make a big mistake. cheers

not too big deal i think, though using a separate internet partition\computer is always good for stuff like that word to the wise though. make sure to cap your upload limit, or people will feed off you like paranaha's......

I was watching a documentary about global flooding and I suddenly had this weird urge. The Opera idea is good --- I didn't think about that one, cheers.

Seems like an odd topic for this board but my advice is to go into utorrent's settings and set it so that when your upload ratio reaches 1, (or 100% I can't remember) the max upload speed will change to 0. This means if you download something once, you are allowing someone to download it from you once which is considered fair play in the torrent world.
