EcoTek PowerBoost...?

MessageAuthor

Hi All, I have been having issues with the power in my car (V40 1.8 GDi 1998), for example going down the motorway at about 80mph and the car starts to pull back/loose power. Applying more throtle doesn't do anything until I push all the way down OR release pedal and then repress. I have also been told by a garage that the car is running too rich - it has also failed on its MOT because of emmisions (1 year ago). SO..... I have read about and I hear that there is a product called PowerBoost by Ecotek which can be used to de-coke your engine. Has anyone on this forum used it? Where about did you spray the foam? Any info would be very much appreciated!!! Thanks in advance. Chris

Can't comment on PowerBoost as never tried. Sounds a little messy squirting into the air intake but making sure it's after any sensors (to see ). What's wrong with old fashioned Redex? Or have you tried that? Sorry can't answer your query directly.

like people have already said Redex, but do the down the spark plug hole treatment, it tells you on the back of the bottle how much to put in, but you basically pour some down each plug hole and let it stand for a bit (i think 10mins but its tells you on the back of the bottle) them cover each plug hole and turn over the engine once, then put your spark plugs back in and start it up, you get loads of smoke for about 5-10 mins, but thats all the crap burning off. I do it to my taxi before each test, 202,0000 miles and its never failed yet! (touch wood)
