D24=Mix I/O?

MessageAuthor

Hi, I just bought a used D24 core card off ebay and when I got it, it has a Mix I/O sticker on the front but says D24 on the card itself. Did someone just put that sticker on there or is the Mix I/O a type of D24 card that isn't going to work as my core card? Thanks, Matt

If it is a MIX I/O card (apparently these cards are rare), then it will not function as a core card of any sort. If you install it and run DigiTest, you should find out immediately what type of card it is.

One thing I know is that a d24 card is short (6"-8") about 1/2 the length of farm or I/O card (about 12"). But like posted above...the test will tell.

It's most likely that the person selling the card used whatever box and static bag they had laying around to ship it to you. If the card says D24 on it, that's almost certainly what it is. And like Rob said, the D24 card was quite a bit shorter than the mix cards, though I've never used a Mix I/O card to see if it's the same. Good luck.

The card says D24 on the silicone card part but has a sticker that says Mix I/O on the face, next to the round plug. That's my main area of concern.

RE: D24=Mix I/O?

Ok, so having looked back thru some old installation notes I have I figured out that the D24 card and Mix I/O are essentially identical physically. The D24 is obviously capable of acting as a core where the Mix I/O isn't. I can't find anything that would indicate that a Mix I/O would have D24 stamped on it anywhere and I wouldn't imagine a D24 with a Mix I/O sticker on its face unless somebody just stuck it there. At this point in the game, the only thing you can do is install it in a computer and start up PT or run Digitest.

Ok, thanks for all the information. I really appreciate it. This whole TDM on a Mac is like a foreign language to me. Thanks again. Shawn, when are you bringing the Pro Tools training to Southern California?
